"Why didn’t you kill me like I asked?"
"I didn’t feel like it."
Twenty-two year old Shoshanna has suffered depression since she was a child.
Once, she actually tried to end it all, but failed miserably. Since then, she has been struggling to keep a promise she made to her parents... one that she has regretted making ever since.
One day though, she sees news about a killer on the loose, who appears to be targeting girls around her age. Then an idea pops in her head What if I could end it all? Why does an innocent girl have to lose her life when she doesn’t want to? When I am stuck here living a life that I don’t want to live.
So she decides to go on the hunt, find the predator, and… offer herself as a willing prey.
But is she going to get what she wants, or is she going to get more than she bargained for?
The Sweetest Kill eBook Amber Lee
Well, I said I couldn't wait until I read some more of Amber's work and here I am. I adored The Sweetest Kill, and my respect for Amber's ability to write beautifully on subjects other authors (and sometimes just people) avoid is making me a huge fan.The Sweetest Kill is unlike any other Vampire Romance I've ever read. Shoshanna is unlike any other leading lady I have ever read. Shoshanna is a young woman (what was it, 22?) who suffers terribly from depression, panic attacks (and I'm thinking PTSD?). I REALLY enjoyed reading Shoshanna's struggles because they are so authentic, and I really think anyone who doesn't know anyone suffering from these mental illnesses could learn from them, take your time to really feel the rawness and reality of those suffering on the inside.
Tobias, ah, I love Tobias. We don't have sparkly Vampire's here, no, our vampire is very much a killer, and this is what draws the two together in the first place. When Tobias compares the consuming of humans without mercy to that of cattle and wild life and humans, that really clicked with me! Do we care if the deer or cow we eat is a mother and has young? No, we certainly don't and I found myself thinking from a fictional species point of view.
The Sweetest Kill is a good read, and I'd very much enjoy reading more of Shoshanna and Tobias.

The Sweetest Kill eBook Amber Lee Reviews
This isn't your overrated Edward and Bella lovestruck story. You're going to get into some dark thoughts that most authors won't even touch, but that's what sets this apart. Can't wait for the next book!
I really loved this book. I'm sad that there wasn't more to read. I read this book in six hours. I want to give this book a five star review but there were a few parts in the book that seemed like they got swept under the rug. I won't say what they are because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone else. That being said I still throughly enjoyed this book. I hope to see more from this author.
This is a fantastic story. It is very well written. Loved the two main characters. There is a part at the end she could have spent more time on before moving to the bar scene though. Definitely a book worth getting.
That was unexpected. I really, really, really need to read synopsis better..
The beginning was hard. The despair.and depression were... Well depressing. But I liked the.banter.and how t helped her deal and respected her need for space. Meh ending..
I enjoyed this book until the last chapter. It was interesting getting to know Shoshanna and cast but I felt the ending was too rushed and there were some unsolved problems. Probably will not pick up the next book.

I found the female to be whiny and annoying. Why would any of these vampires want to turn/love this emo chick? She should have been put out of our misery in the first chapters. I only finished the book hoping the vampire would do her in. She makes very little to no effort to improve herself and is happy to be miserable. Oh pity me, my sister died of cancer. Oh pity me, my parents actually want to see me. Oh pity me, my parents did the best they could but I was determined to be a total screw up and worry them needlessly. Oh pity me, I can't even function enough to hold down a job. This character was nothing but an attention seeker engaging in behavior to deliberately make others feel bad for her. Why on earth would all of these vampires be so interested in her besides using her for a meal??? Horrible just horrible.
Interesting take on vampires and works very well. Deals with some dark aspects of sexual assault and other life events for our protagonist that result in some serious PTSD, deep depression and triggers.
I felt a bit cheated at the end after going through the struggles with Shoshanna & Tobias, but I'm glad I read it and would recommend it.
